The Texas Trout Series will kick off 2007 in January

The Texas Trout Series presented by Blue Wave Boats will kick off its second season on Saturday, January 27, 2007 in Port OConnor.  The Texas Trout Series will host three premier fishing tournaments across the Texas Gulf Coast in 2007, with a potential purse of more than $140,000 in prize money.

Beginning in January, three tournaments will take place on waters across the Texas Gulf Coast, including Corpus Christi, Port O'Connor and Matagorda.  Teams of two will have the opportunity to win prize money in addition to earning points to qualify for the two-day championship tournament to be held April 14 in Port Aransas, TX.

"We've created a fun, competitive tournament circuit thats affordable for the weekend fisherman," said Scot Simmons who is one of the founders.  "The format is one-day and the local stops make it feasible for any Texas angler to make the tournaments without investing a lot of time and money."

Format for the tournament includes a live weigh-in with three-fish, artificial lures only and participants are allowed to wade-fish. The entry fee per team is set at $300.00 and one-in-five teams will earn prize money.  Teams may fish as many tournaments as they would like.  Teams who want to qualify for the two-day championship may do so by acquiring points at each tournament.

This year the tournament will introduce the Tour Rewards Program.  To qualify for this program, teams must sign-up for all three qualifying tournaments in advance.  Members of the Tour Reward Program will receive a 20% bonus added to their prize money and if they qualify for the championship in the top 20 teams, they will receive free entry into the championship.

As an added attraction, the first angler fishing in the 2007 Texas Trout Series to break the Texas state record for speckled trout will receive a brand new, fully-loaded Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck courtesy of Texas Sporting Journal and Covert Chevrolet or Bastrop.

Last year proved that the Texas Saltwater Series tournaments are the fastest growing, grass roots tournament trail in the Southwest with over 300 anglers and 154 teams fishing the Redfish Series and 55 teams fishing the Trout Series.  The 2007 schedule is based on the results of a poll on the website that asked the fishermen to vote on where they would most like to fish in 07.  In 2006, Simrod Outdoors has had 2,698,152 successful requests on the redfish website, 629,586 on the trout website and 107,000 views on the online photo album. In additions they have been featured in Gulf Coast Connections Magazine, Texas Fish & Game Magazine, Texas Outback Magazine, Saltwater Angler Magazine and numerous area newspapers.  The tournaments can also be found on over 50 websites on the internet.

For 2007, Simrod Outdoors has hired legendary outdoor TV host and producer, David West to produce the new Texas Saltwater Series Television Show which will feature all of their tournaments.  "We are looking forward to putting David's 13 years of experience into our new TV show to make it the most informative and entertaining fishing show out there targeting all anglers." said Jim Elrod.  "We are planning to launch our new Television Show on a major network which will be announced in early 2007.  We will show twenty-six episodes."

The Texas Trout Series is produced by Simrod Outdoors.  Simrod Outdoors is one of the fastest growing production companies for saltwater fishing tournaments targeting the every-day angler.  In 2007 Simrod Outdoors will bring you the Texas Trout Series, the Texas Redfish Series, and the all-new Texas Kids Series and Texas Spot Series, which is a new family-oriented Redfish Tournament looking to bring excitement into a more relaxed tournament format.
